Scientific Programme

The Scientific Programme is now undefinedonline.

The early indicators are that the Paris UEGW 2007 will be a resounding success and the Scientific Committee will maintain the tradition of a balanced programme which will include a range of symposia on clinical updates, the best of European gastrointestinal and liver science and some excellent training opportunities for trainees and established gastroenterologists. The core programme will have a similar format to preceding years although the Scientific Committee will ensure that at least 50% of the programme is original research communications.

The programme will include the usual broad range of topics with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary symposia which will explore the interface between different therapeutic modalities. There will be a session for example on the management of hilar biliary structures which will include radiological, surgical and endoscopic dimensions. There will be updates on H.pylori, a new classification of GERD, Barrett’s oesophagus, rectal cancer, metals in the liver and NASH and the metabolic syndrome. There will be a symposium which will explore the recent developments in transluminal endoscopic surgery. In addition there will be a daily session for case-based discussion, socalled ‘Clinics in Gastroenterology and Hepatology’ and the poster rounds will be continued in Paris.

Poster
Exhibition

Posters will be displayed from Monday until Wednesday of the UEGW nearby the technical exhibition and will be changed daily. Information regarding poster format, setup and dismantling will be sent to the authors along with their notification of acceptance.

Poster Rounds will be held during the lunch period at UEGW. Selected experts will visit groups of posters when the presenter will be expected to give a 1-2 minute summary of the major findings described in the poster. The experts
will lead the discussion with other members attending the poster session. It is the responsibility of the presenter to ensure that at least one of the authors is present during the lunch session to take part in the poster discussion.

The UEGF is in the process of seeking approval from the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education in Brussels (EACCME), an institution of the UEMS, to provide EACCME credits for the attendance at the scientific sessions of the core programme as well as for the postgraduate teaching programme.

Common Interest
Groups

There will be opportunity for Common Interest Groups to meet at UEGW outside the core programme.
Applications should be submitted to the UEGF Secretariat to be considered by the Chair of the UEGF Scientific Committee.

Satellite Symposia and Breakfast Meetings
